I was working with liquid nitrogen and we were handling metal that had been in the container. I held the metal for a good 45+ seconds and now I can't feel my fingers. It's been almost 9 hours and they are red and they hurt and I can't feel much. What should I do?

  1. You probably have a frost bite.  Basically, your finger froze and tissues have died...   While the cause is the opposit, the effect on your body is exactly the same as regular burns.  If it is deep enough, you will need medical treatment.  Best thing to do is to see a doctor.

  2. go the doctor!

  3. See a doctor.  Liquid nitrogen can produce a nasty burn!

In future, your lab should have special insulated gloves for handling liquid nitrogen...if not, they shouldn't pass accreditation!

  4. If you are working with Liquid Nitrogen- then you must work in a doctors office!!!! Call your doctor and see what you should be doing-
