they have huge stingers(about half the size of their body. They live in a hole in a tree. I walk past and they hover around my eyes. This is how I see them clearly. They havent attacked me yet, but I walk past them nearly everyday. How can I bee 100% sure they are africanized. I am from the northeast and doing research it says they have only migrated to the southwest. Any information would be greatly appreciated. If they are, how can I catch them without getting killed?

  1. Very unlikely that they are africanized honey bees. They could possibly be hornets or bumblebees. If you want them to go away buy some insecticide or call an exterminator. Don't bother calling a beekeeper, he won't come.

  2. They are more likely hornets. Don't disturb their nest and they won't bother you.

  3. only five "swarm" you i wouldn't be so sure that they are africanised bees, some types of domestic honey bees are more aggressive than others and there are "guard" bees that are aggressive in general. a "bee tree" can be a nice help to local pollenisation but if you are worried try calling a local bee keeper who could remove the bees for you. if they are domestic honey bees he may want to set up a trap that doesn't allow the bees to reenter the tree and he can hive them up with a new queen. good luck .

  4. If you're concerned about them, call your local animal/pest control agency in your city to have them check it out. I wouldn't go near them, little on "catch them." You run a very high risk of dying should you mess with them.
