Question:

What do I do about parents not letting me move out?

I'm currently almost 15, my sister almost 14. We told our parents we wanted to move out when we're 18 and 19 to get a flat together but they laughed and said there's no way they'd let us, even though legally we'd be allowed to. I hate my house - my parents are too lazy to get a good job and are forever favouring my brother over us. Should we just ignore our parents and move out?

  1. When you're old enough, they won't be able to stop you. And as long as you can pay your own way, there's nothing they can do about it. So start saving.

  2. Once you are that age there is nothing legally they can do to stop you moving out.

  3. Well, you're quite right, they won't be able to stop you once you're 18.

Just make sure that when you do make plans to move, you have enough money and know exactly where you're going, otherwise you'll end up needing to come home again, to a pair of smug parents who will say 'I told you so'.

Anyway, I hope your relationship with your parents improves so that your eventual moving out will be amicable and supported.

  4. When you are 18 nothing can stop anyone from moving out. But it isnt easy, the gas water all them kinda bills including clothes and food and that. If there is no problems at home you shouldnt move out as you would have no reason to.

  5. As long as you're willing to be completely financially independent, go for it.  It's normal for kids to move out at that age, and as far as I know, there's nothing they can do to stop you.  With that said, four years is a long time, especially during your teens.  Things can change.  Why not tell your parents your reasons for wanting to move out?

  6. When you are 18 you will be legally allowed to move out and they won't be able to stop you.

  7. Ask for emancipation at court.

  8. Its never to early to start saving to move out, It souds like your plan to move out is in 4 years time. You could start saving now and if you end up changing your mind nothing has been lost. Keep your options open. Good luck x

  9. Yes.

  10. once you are 18/19 you should just go. im sure your parents were just kidding and by the time you are at age they will let you go.

  11. yea but when ur 18 and 19 b cuz ur right u r legally allowed to and if u want to move out now then u should be able t get a job but u will b driving soon at least wait until ur 17 tho then ur parents will have given u all they want to like a casr n stuff like that but b 4 u move out get as much as u can out of them  and good luck1!!

  12. You can just move out at 18 yrs old. Just plan ahead...i'd start working so you can save money to move out. It cost a lot out there..

After you turn 18 no one can stop you nor tell you what to do. You would be an adult

  13. errr they cant stop you. not even legally.

tell them to get f*cked when you are 18 and 19. What can they do??? NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING

they can scream - but that is it! they cant even hit you.

it might take them some getting used to, but they will accept it all.

of course you should ignore them and move out. you two have each other to rely on, and that is good. Just make sure you both have jobs so that you dont have to crawl back into their house because you cant support yourselves.
