What do I do about this dog????

Question

Ok... so I live out in the woods, there are only 5 houses on my road. My neighbor across the street( and up on a big hill) recently got re-married and she has a big dog that barks constantly. I can't garden in peace anymore, It barks when I get out of my car, or even sneeze in the house when the windows are open.. it barks. Now I don't want to be the crabby neighbor, I just want peace and quiet again, and I don't have the guts to tell him....HELP!!!

I would go tell them about it.  She is probably used to the barking and tunes it out not realizing it is annoying to you.  Most likely, as long as they are decent people they will feel bad about it bothering you & take care to keep the dog quiet.  Just be nice and approach them in a non-threatening manner & mention it.  If you approach it the right way, they will not see you as crabby, more expressing a concern. Please talk to them before calling animal control, they probably dont realize its an issue.  Give them a chance first.

Well if you call the city or the pound and tell them that it is bothering you then they will go over there and just tell that someone called saying that the barking was bothering them and they will tell them they need to keep it quiet or they will have to get rid of it.

I agree they need to know.  

See if they are willing to let you come over t meet the dog and maybe give a treat or play or...help the dog to feel your not a threat.  If the dog is young they need to enroll in a class.  Find out where a local one is.  How close do they live to you?  A quick squirt with a garden hose can quiet my  whole boarding kennel.

They make a device that you can find in some dog catalogs that omits a high frequency tone when your neighbors dogs bark. you hang it up in your yard or back yard, i think it runs on battery's. Its supposed to stop the barking. then you don't have to go try to deal with humanoids.

PS I think the person who said for you to grow some is way rude.

Call your animal control, and ask who you should contact to make a noise complain, usually it is the city but since you live in the woods, it may be the county government.  Talk to your other neighbors, if you all make a complaint, it will have more of an impact.  Good luck!

Well unless you say something he's not going to know the constant barking is bothering you.  You could call the police and complain to them and maybe they will say something to them.

well i think your gonna have to "grow a pair" and go talk to them, they dont know its bothering you unless you speak up, its not like they are going to yell at you (well if they are decent people they wont). if they give you attitude about it then just call the cops, they'll go out there and talk to them and make a report.

before going to the cops or calling animal control talk to them, at least give them a chance to fix the problem,with out the law involved thats just common courtesy.

You should defiantly tell your neighbores first before calling animal control! They probably don't know that they are bugging her!!!!
