What do I do about this lost kitten?

Okay. A few days ago, I was comming home from biking, and I decided to cut through the yard of the house behind us because it was faster. I found two cats, one a local cat who belongs to the neighbors, and the other was a boy kitten that I hadn't seen before. (An older kitten)

Well, the kitten followed me home and ran into the garage as I was putting my bike away. I shooed it outside and went in, but a few hours later the kitten was still there. I went out to pet it, and left it a little milk, like I do with other visiting cats. It still didn't leave and after I went in, cried outside the front door all day long.

When it was still there 11 hours later, my parents and I decided it was lost, so we gave it some food and decided to ask the neighbors about it the next day. From how fast the kitten ate, it must've been pretty hungry. Anyway, overnight it found the back door, and cried outside that door for more hours, then went to sleep in a lawn chair.

Long story short, we found out that this lost kitten doesn't belong to any of the neigbors and we can't keep it because my mom has athsma and horrible cat allergies. Animal control are a bunch of asses and don't take in cats, and the humane society is the same. For now, it's living on our back porch and I feed it regularly, but every day it cries and howls outside the door to be let in, and hearing that makes me want to cry because I can't let it in and it has nowhere to go.

  1. I was going through something near the same problem. What we did was keep a close eye on the kitten and leave out some cat food for the mother so she can produce milk, and so when the kitten gets ready, the kitten can eat better. If you can't send it to the SPCA then the best thing is to be kind about the situation and just make sure its in a safe place away from preditors like eagles, snakes ect. Your doing a great thing coming for anwsers instead of doing nothing about it, it shows you are a decent person in this world. But, as I've said, just make sure it's in a safe spot so nothing can get it. DO NOT cage it yet, like in a carrier. That's a bad infulence on a small kitten, the kittens mind is being made at a young age expecialy sence the kitten is so young and in the wild. Don't take it to far from the mother eather, keep a good eye on it for a few weeks to a month and make sure it's okay. That's all you can really do in this situation.

I know you will do the right thing, and thank you for coming here for help. That kitten could be saved because of this.

  2. Go and get some kitten food, so he will at least have what he needs as far as nutrition. Human food is not all that good and milk can make him sick(no matter what cartoons show us) You could take a few pics and post them on Craigs list, and around the neighborhood, don't forget your local paper. A stray would generally not cry at your door, so chances are he belongs to someone. Is he in good condition? Does he look well kept? If he does try taking his picture into your local vets office, they may know him and his owners. If all else fails, why fight it, sometimes animals choose us! If you keep him, make sure you have him fixed! The sooner the better, he will need a check up and shots too.

Good luck, I hope it all works out.

  3. take him to the animal shelter or ask a neighbor or some friends if they want a kitten...kittens usually aren't that hard to give away..you could even stand outside a grocery store or something advertising you have a free kitten..i got a box full that way before

  4. Feeding it was your first mistake

Milk was your second as it gives them diareah

There are cat shelters. Google it.

  5. go to kijiji.com and post and advertisment there. Try and sell him.. I think finding a home for him is better then leting him cry outside your house..

I have a kitten about 4 months hes sleeping on my lap right now haha..

So ya try and sell him or give him away for free..

I dont like selling pets.. its like selling your child..
