  1. i'm trying out for volleyball right now also. i'm makeing sure i'm attending all the practices that i can. i'm missing a week of volleyball so i wrote down all the exercies and stretches we have learned so i can practice and stay in shape while i'm gone. also listen to the coach. no matter how silly he or she sounds they have really good advice. also see if u can get help from a friend or someone who has played volleyball. but if your coach wants u 2 do something a certain way then do it that way. also practice outside of your practice at open gym..... and make sure you are in shape

  2. build up your leg muscles and practice on over hand serving and persision bump

  3. coaches dont expect freshmen to know how to play vball..they look for basica skills that they think can be perfected, and they look for potential. They look for a player who can work together with people and they look for good attitude. If they give you advice...thank them, and apply what they tell you to the best of your ability. All they want to see is who is willing to try more than their best to become a good volleyball player...and not get discouraged. They look for a strong player who won't give up on themselves and will just keep trying and trying.

  4. calm down.

    practice on:

1.serves ( over and under hand)

    2.passing

    3.spiking

    4.setting

Try to also watch volleyball games on t.v. so you can see the intensity and the drive athletes have when playing this sport. Also rest up a lot and drink water when you practice. I have played this sport for a couple of years and it is very fun! You will really like it.

  5. throw your bra away and get a nice t-shirt

  6. This may sound studid and obvious but you really need to play volleyball as much as possible.  There are skills that you will need to develop such as serving, passing, setting, and hitting that only come through playing.  Try to get some other players from open gym to play with you more than 2 times a week.  Also, you can lift weights, do plyometrics (jumping routines), and do short sprints and ladders.  Good luck.

  7. Go to all the open gyms......coaches (like me) really enjoy seeing people that will commit to summer volleyball.  When you are there, learn from everyone.  Ask questions of other players and coaches on how you can improve your skills.  Serving and passing are absolutely the most important things.  You do not need to set if you are new (other, more experienced players will do that), but starting to learn to hit will be helpful.  If you can play other times go do that too (camp, league, whatever).  Good luck!!

  8. Just be fully streched out, and go for it! They love it when your gung-ho about the sport.

Make sure to jump high against the net and practice spiking the ball and hitting, they will do drills with you at the try-outs.

Did same thing in junior high and ended up playing varsity :)

  9. People say in order to play volleyball you need to know how to hit and stuff like that but i would say you need to be fit meaning in your shape. When you walk in to your tryouts try not to be scared. The first thing your should learn first is to serve and pass the ball. If you know these two things your coach will take you in. IF you dont mind what school r u trying out for???
