What do I do before a run so that I don't feel heavy and tense?

I ran long distance track a while ago but currently I'm out of shape and not used to running at all. When I run I feel SO heavy and like my muscles are incredibly tense, like rocks. What stretches and other things could I do to feel more limber while I run? Cardio maybe? What kind?

  1. try doing a longer warm up or longer stretch than usual.

    try active stretches
