  1. Attorneys most certainly help and attorneys can most certainly can get you more money - mine did.

But no they're not neccessary if you wish to make littlel money off your very major injuries - I know I know the insurance company has heard it all before - but it's the truth one minor 'bump ' can turn into a lifetime of pain.

Only 10 months after my accident & I'm limping today wahhhh :(

  2. You don't necessarily need an attorney.  I have been in a few accidents.  We just called the police, they write a report.  Then they collect insurance info for both parties.  Then call your insurance agent and he will walk you through the rest.  It can actually be relatively painless with a decent agent.

  3. Attorneys are not required to handle a claim.

Having an attorney does not increase the value of your claim. Each claim is evaluated on it's own merits.

If you chose to hire an attorney- you will end up paying them a very large chunk (1/3 to 1/2) of any settlement you get.

But - a better plan would be to drive safely and try not to get into any accidents.
