What do I do if I didn't receive the full amount of my economic stimulus check?

It's supposed to be $600, right? Well, I only got $300. I don't owe any taxes, I got a rebate this year, and I have no outstanding liens of any kind. Did they just F it up? If so, how do I get the rest?

  1. It wasn't SUPPOSED to be 600. For most filers, especially simple returns, it was $300.

  2. If you filed taxes but did not have a net tax liability (you got all your federal taxes back in your refund) then you only get $300

  3. No, it's not $600.  It's $300 UP TO $600, and depends on how much your net income tax liability was for the year.  Unless your tax was over $300, you'd get $300 which sounds like probably what your situation is.  You need to read the info on the website or the info that was sent to you, and/or run your info from your tax return through the calculator at http://www.irs.gov/app/espc/ - there isn't any "rest" for you to get, and no they didn't F it up, you didn't read how it would be calculated what you were eligible for.

  4. You may have owed money to tha goverment or like childsupport or something of that nature.

  5. They changed it from 600 to 300  because of many different reasons. If you don't have any children then you only get $300. Call the IRS if you need more explanation than that. My husband claimed himself and 2 children and he got $900 instead of $1200.

  6. Single people are going to get $300, $600 or somewhere in between.  Most people, including the media, seemed to focus on the $600 but most lower income single people will only get $300.

If your income was low, and/or deductions high, you probably only qualified for $300.

  7. you say you didn't receive full amount, by whose calculation did you think it would be $600?  did you use the stimulus calculator?  If so did it say $600? if it did then contact IRS at 1-866-234-2942 for an explanation.

And on the website it does clearly state:

The IRS will issue payments of UP TO $600 ($1,200 for married couples) plus $300 for eligible children younger than 17, throughout the spring and summer. The first wave of payments will go to people who opted for direct deposit on their 2007 income tax returns
