I hit a parked car two months ago and I ran because I was nervous, did not know what to do. I get a call two months later saying there is a claim on my insurance that someone saw an "unknown" driver driving from hitting a car and running. What do I say to the adjuster, can someone really prove I hit a car two months ago without solid evidence and no police involved?

  1. Yes, you would be surprised, they can take photos of both vehicles, measure height of damage, and look at paint transfers. Most insurance companies have a department called Special Investigations Unit (SIU) or something similar when they suspect fraud (yes, this is what this is if you lie to the insurance company). If they do determine it was your fault, they will pay the claim and you have no choice per the policy(a contract)

  2. Confess!!!!!

How would you feel if it was reversed.  Karma is a B***** as they say.  As far as proving it, yes they can.  they can do measurements also compare damages.  Just so you know this is also insurance fraud.  Every time you tell the insurance company a lie or an ommission it's a form of fraud.  Do the right thing it stinks right now but you'll feel better in the end.

  3. Gee...I wonder if there was a witness? Otherwise, why would YOU be getting a call? Dollars to donuts says tag, you're it.

  4. They found your car so they must have some kind of evidence. Some one apparently got your plate number and possibly your description. You could lie and say you weren't driving but then they will want to know who was so the hole is going to get deeper as you lie, or you can tell the truth that you got scared and let your insurance take care of the damages. You are lucky the police aren't involved or you would be in real big trouble. You have a choice to make. Make the right one.Good luck.

  5. It's always best to be honest.

  6. how do you think they got the phone number?  plate numbers and addresses are not given out to anybody.  the police and courts have that info.

how long until the phone rings from the cop shop?  or are they at the door?

    opps

  7. You tell the adjuster the truth about what happened. Then they will take care of the matter and you will not get sued.

Getting sued.....not good. That gets really ugly.

Best to do the right thing and tell the adjuster what happened.

(apparently there is a witness-- someone probably got your tag-- how do you think they found your insurance company?)

  8. Go back to the area and check for possible surveillance cameras, if there aren't any and you're  just contending against witness testimony, just deny knowledge of anything. If there is damage to your vehicle as a result of the accident then that maybe a problem.

  9. hit and run hit and run you see what happens when you hit and run.. really dumb move on your part woul dhave be easdy to write a note with your info or waited for them to come back.. it happens everyday somewhere it wasnt a big deal til you drove off....evidence they got you tag number and that all one needs..... boy im glad its not me

  10. Come clean with it.

Part of being responsible is admitting to your mistakes.

Tell them you were afraid, and take what is coming to you.

Sometimes  you just have to man up.

  11. You mean solid evidence like your paint on the car you hit, the damage to your car that shows you hit something and it matches the damage to the car you hit, and the eye witness that saw you and got your plate number?

Pay for the damage you did, and hope they don't arrest you for leaving the scene of an accident.

  12. deny deny deny lol you didnt say if you have any damage if you have the slightest bit of damage they can prove it.

  13. I just answered this question.  No matter how many times you ask this question or how you word it, the answer is going to be the same.  You are guilty and must pay the consequences
