What do I do if I overfilled the coolant past the max line?

I feel SO stupid for overfilling it, but it's not way past or anything. I capped it and nothing overflowed. But is it ok to drive or did I really s***w up? I'm just a teenage girl so um...you can guess how much I know about cars...

  1. No harm done.  as pressure builds up inside your radiator, the excess will flow out the overflow tube into your reservoir.  If your reservoir is full, then there is another overflow tube that will allow the coolant to drip out and onto the road while you are driving.

You can now sleep in peace tonite.

  2. Modern cars have an over flow reservoir.  Excess coolant will fill that.  If there is still more, it will overflow and run of there.  No harm should come from driving it.

  3. Don't panic and don't feel stupid. You can drive it and no problem, but if it really bothers you, just open it up and siphon some out. That's the easiest way. Or you can crawl underneath and look for the petcock and open it up and drain some out. Siphon is the easiest or you can use a sponge.

  4. HI

It well be fine.. it well level its self out once its been driven. and if it don't, Then don't worry about it.

    Good luck
