I just recently bought a canary and placed a cover over his cage but he's freaking out in there. Is this normal? Will he calm down once he gets used to it? Or should I take it off his cage?

  1. Make sure you have the light on when you start to place the cover over the cage.  Cover the back and sides first and let himget use to the cover slowly.  He does not see well in sudden darkness and is frightened not knowing what is going to happen to him in complete darkness.

  2. why r u covering him up at night ?? If he's not making alot of noise them leave the cover off. I used to cover my lovebirds & they hated it so I hust quit doing it.

  3. Because its a brand new thing hes not quiet sure whats going on.. So just do it nice and calmly and pretty soon he should get useto you covering the cage.. It's a normal reaction though... Also if he still seems really uncomfortable with it a towel over the top at night works just as well.

  4. it is very normal ask your vet or call him/her and inform them about your pet and their behavior she might can give you remedies and listings of what to do thanks hope i helped -elle
