Last night my gf and I wanted to check out the new Sonics here in Minnesota. We never been to one before and we didnt know we should tip the car hop because I paid by CC at the terminal and it didnt have an option to tip. When the carhop dropped the food off she didn't seem to leave right away and something seemed strange about that she was probably waiting for a tip and I didn't offer one. We got home later and I noticed a fresh 4 inch scratch on the left side of my 2 door Grand Am. I am really upset and I called the restaurant today to inform them of what happened and they said they will review the security tapes but I doubt that their cameras will pick something like that up in detail. Is there anything else I should do or just let it go and never go there again? I am just furious because my car is cherry red and this scratch looks awful and the Sonic should fire this girl and reimburse me but how can you prove it.

  1. That sucks that it happened but unless there is proof there is nothing that you can do

  2. Do you really think its possible for someone to key your car while your in it and not notice it? Isn't it possible it happened somewhere else? I would think really hard about it before I started pointing fingers.

  3. slap yourself for being so stupid as to let it happen!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Wow, woulda been cheaper to tip. Next time you go there run over the stupid girl! Lol

  5. If the cameras didn't catch it and your GF didn't witness it there isn't much you can do.However you could take a hand full of BBS if they still use roller skates and chunk them in front of her next load she is carrying.

  6. You can confront her and report her to the police for vandalizing your car. Perhaps there were other witnesses that saw her do it such as servers or other patrons. You will need to build your case if you decide to take her to court. You might want to consult an attorney. Good Luck!

  7. okay this is what you need to do first take some pictures of the scratch on your car, and if you have any pictures of  your car before the incident have that with you. Take it to your car dealership and see how much it will cost for the damage, and also take it to the sonic that you went to. It will probably also help if you know the exact time that you and your gf went to sonic and also give a good description of the carhop girl. Then you can see about taking it to court. No matter what if this girl did do this incident she had no right to do it whether or not you leave her a tip, she should show customer appreciation.

  8. I've never tipped either and I've been going to Sonic for years but I have heard that they can get tips,I just dont know anyone that does tip them.

  9. This has happened before at my Sonic. More than likely it was the carhops metal changer that she wore. They should have bumper guards on them but I've seen alot of them without the guards. And since it was a newly opened Sonic, the carhop probably wasn't aware that her metal changer would accidently scratch the vehicle once she got too close..I know this from working 10 years with Sonic..I would go back to that location and talk to the working partner or general manager and file a report for insurance....they should know what to do there.....I think it was an accident...

  10. what a little s***k...hopefully the camera's caught it..everytime i've been to a sonic i've never given a tip..i would confront her and possibly slash her tires....just kidding!!! but i would go talk to somebody there in person and then have the manager bring her in the room too and see what's up...good luck!!!

  11. Wow unreal...but you know she should never have expected a tip I lived in Oklahoma for a few years and Sonic was right across the street from my apartment. I never tipped the carhop and nothing like that ever happened, I don't know anyone in Oklahoma that ever tipped a carhop. That would be like tipping the McDonald's drive - in employee. Unfortunately you didn't catch her in the act that way you could have addressed it right then and there. But, like any situation when there is destruction of property I would fill out a police report. Because it will be on file and you might not be the only one out there that had this bad experience. Use your girlfriend as a witness be very descriptive especially in that of the character and presence of the carhop. If nothing comes about with the manager of the Sonic...go over the managers head. Even the corporation wouldn't stand for a franchise ruining their ideals.  You should check and see what are the general rules for an employee at Sonic, because some fast food chains like Wendy's don't allow their employees to accept tips. Also you might want to file a complaint with the BBB Better Business Bureau, or a consumer advocacy group in your state. I would go there again, if the food was good just to set up a sting and see if she would do it again.
