What do I do if there is a burning in what seems to be my lung?

When I eat or drink anything, it feels like a little bit slides into my lung. I say this because I ate vindaloo the other night, and it felt like some sauce got into my lung because it started burning. It's kind of scary, but I don't know if there's anything that can be done to help it. Please don't tell me "go see the doctor, duh." I know this- I just hate the doctor.

  1. Try drinking some milk & see if that will help. Good Luck

  2. Heartburn can feel like a burning in your lung. It might not be that it's getting into your lung, it just might be the general area. I know it can also feel like a heartattack sometimes too. I get it occassionally in the center of my chest.

To run over some basics: Are you chewing your food really well? Believe it or not, that can make a big difference. Generally, people don't seem to chew their food very well, especially things like meat, frenchfries etc. and these are fairly big chunks going down your esophagus. The other thing is spicy foods. I've never heard of vindaloo? I don't know what that is. But you might want to keep a food journal and write down how you feel when you eat certain foods. You might start to see a connection especially with spicy foods or when you're eating certain things.

Also, that can happen when you eat things that are really cold too - like a freezie. You mght get brain freeze but you can also get that feeling in your chest.

For me, the worst thing that causes that is McDonald's french fries because they tend to be small and easy to wolf down but I get sharp jabbing pains after ward that feel like the french fry is jabbing me all the way down.

Also, I think that if it were really getting "into" your lungs, you would have difficulty breathing and probably have a heaving cough. Have you ever had a Coke or some other drink go down your lung because you were laughing so hard? It's a completely different sensation. If feels like you can't breathe and even with a very small amount of liquid, you'll start to have this heaving cough sound.

  3. It's heartburn or acid reflux. See a doctor who will give you proper medication like an antacid or something. Good luck!

  4. You probably just burnt your esophogus with the vindaloo! Breathing and swallowing both are irritating it. Get some chloroseptic spray to numb it. If it doesn't go away and you get fever, chills, headache in the next two days, see a Dr.
