What do I do in Paris during Christmas?

I'm going to Paris with my boyfriend for a holiday over Christmas (23rd Dec to 28th Dec 07). Anyone have any suggestions of what to do when we get there. There must be some sort of French Christmas thing going on right? What else should we do/see when we're there.

Secondary question - I'll then be in Amsterdam for New Year's Eve - any tips/suggestions?

  3. In Paris, go ice skating in front of the Paris city hall -- Hotel de Ville.  In the evening, go see the Christmas tree in front of Notre Dame.  After that, go to the Eiffel Tower and watch the twinking lights.

  4. All French Christmases are not equal. In Paris, you'll be able to celebrates Christmas in typical metropolitan touch: light displays, window decorations and even skating at the Eiffel Tower. On the other hand, the countryside will have a rustic, small-town spirit. However, throughout France, Christmas is a time for family, merriment and food. Although caroling is not nearly as popular in France, church hymns over an interesting musical experience. In addition, a typical Christmas meal is at least 6 courses. Other than that, Bon Vacances et Joyeaux Noel!
