What do I do to get financial aid?

I want desperately to go back to college. However, I have no money to pay for it. My dad is a plumber and has had cancer twice, so he is very poor. The problem is, I have to have my PARENTS fill out the form because I am not 24 yet. It asks all kinds of information that I don't know: like how much money my parents made in the last year.

I have begged my Mom to fill it out but she keeps putting it off, saying she needs to ask questions to the accountant about how much to put........My parents are self-employed so it is hard for them to determine how much they make.

Last Friday was the deadline to sign up for summer classes. The classes start June 1st but you had to sign up by May 9. Do you think my school would still let me sign up??? I don't know how to get financial aid when my parents won't fill out the form!! Should I just lie on there about how much they make?? How can I convince my Mom to fill out the form?

  1. If you do not act fast then you will have a longer delay in your aid.  Your parent's do not need to ask their accountant about anything, everything is directly off their taxes.  Take their federal 1040's and depending on if they filed a 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ it will direct you to which line you will need to take some numbers. Example: Line 1040A look on line 40A...  If you do not get into the summer semester then you will have a chance at the Fall as long as you complete it ASAP.

  2. Yes your school will let you register...You need a copy of your parents taxes to answer a couple of questions on www.fafsa.edu.

I had the same problem when I was starting classes so I got there papers and filled it out on my own with my financial aid counselor...Call your school immediately
