  1. Birds do this when they are trying to show you that they are either

    1. Bored

    2. Sick

    3. Trying to get your attention

It sounds to me like he is trying to show you that there is something wrong with his foot. It could mean that he has a skin irritation, and is trying to get rid of it by biting his claw.

I suggest taking him to an avian vet, in this case, (severe biting cases) they put a funny little round dish around its neck to prevent it from causing more injury to its self and biting.

Take some warm salt water, and dab it on his foot. Do NOT use household detergents, as some of these havent been tested on animals and may cause an allergic reaction and make things worse.

Give him another day or 2 to get used to the idea that you are back home, and maybe he will calm down. It could also mean that he has been pining for you (when an animal mourns for its owner and refuses to eat or engages in injuring its self because its owner is gone).

If by the second day he still hasnt stopped biting his foot, take him to an avian vet to be sure that nothing is wrong.

Hope this helps you and good luck!! =]
