When he wakes up he is screaming, kicking, and will not sit still. I have tried giving him his drink, comforting him, walking outside with him, turning on lights and tv, and even playing his favorite music. He will not let you get close to him because he is going so crazy moving. Any Suggestions?

  1. Sounds like night terrors.

    "Know the signs

-Sudden bouts of apparent awakening (The child appears awake but is in deep sleep)

-Overwhelming fear, terror, or strange behavior occurring at night

    -Rapid heart beat

    -Screaming or crying

    -Confusion

    -Sweating

    -No memory of the event

    -Inability to fully awaken

-Irritable and difficult to sooth back to sleep"

  2. Takl to your child peds dr-  May be a neuro thing like a type of seizure you  never know - Not trying to freak you out, just better to be safe than sorry!

  3. My boy experience the same thing when he is around that age. The more i try to comfort him the more he struggle. I solve the problem by giving him warm milk in a bottle, and he goes back to sleep after the milk. It works for me everytime, maybe you can give it a try. Hope it works.

  4. Night terrors kid.  Common.  See a doctor.  There may be things you can do before putting him down to alleviate the chance of having one.

    DONT PANIC.  It's common.

  5. night terrors...

there fairly normal. my son use to get them at about 18 months. he's 2 now, and still gets them from time to time...

all you can do is comfort them till they either wake up or fall back asleep...

and in the morning your baby doesn't even remember have a night terror...

it's almost like there sleep walking or should i say sleep screaming...

if it keeps happening... see what time at night it usually happens, and wake your baby up about half an hour before it usually happens.

and it will interrupt your baby's sleep process and it shouldn't happen that night...

  6. The same thing happens to my son.  It sounds like night terrors, and it's pretty common, although freaky!

Stay calm.  Speak soothingly.  Remember he's not really awake--he may not even remember the episode the next day.

As with all things in childhood, this too shall pass.  Talk to your ped.

    Good luck!

  7. I would talk to your doctor he may be having night terrors.
