I have a Ball Python named Rex. He is about one and a half years old and almost two feet long. he recently shed off his old skin and

I know he shed his eye cap off with the rest of his old skin. Although, his eyes (both of them) look very cracked and foggy. Could this be something other than old eye caps? I didn't want to try to peel them off because if that is NOT the case I don't want to hurt me snake.

Any suggestions?

Please respond soon this is my first Python and I don't want anything bad to happen to him.

WHAT SHOULD I DO!?!?!?!

  1. If he shed with eyecaps, and you're absolutely certain the caps are in the shed then I doubt its a stuck cap, it could be dehydration as some python's eyes will look dented when they are dehydrated. You can go straight away to a vet if you don't think you can check for a cap yourself confidently and without hurting him.

If your absolutely certain you can check, let him soak in a tub of warm water for a good 15-30 minutes, take a qtip and dip it in a bit of mineral oil. Wash your hands thoroughly and dab his eyes the rub your thumb VERY gently over his eye. No cap? Then go to the veterinary to have his eyes checked over.

  2. do not peel them off yourself! you can try soaking him but if you are positive that he shed the eye caps then I would recommend taking him to a vet to ensure that he does not have an eye infection

  3. just soak him in a bath for like 45 min...and see if they will come off....

DO NOT PEEL THEM OFF YOURSELF

  4. Get a snake shed remover thing. Put 2 teaspoons of it in lukewarm water.. let it bathe.. do not let it unsupervised.. but then  if it wont come off try to rub it gently it will not hurt its eye
