I just brought a new car yesterday, the price for the vehicle online was $9995 but when we got to sign the contract the price was 10995? When we went for the test drive I asked my salesperson about the warranty she said "Well I am not for sure, I will check when we get back". So we get back to the store she never brings it up again. When we get ready to sign I asked again, she acted like she was annoyed that I was asking. She goes to check, and it is a certified vehicle it is a 2002 grand cherokee it only has 55,000 miles, not bad for this year very nice vehicle. She said 2year warranty or up to 100,000 . So they had me sign. Today I pulled out the warranty and it says for 1 month or 1,000 miles. I am pissed, what can I do they lied to me about my warranty?

  1. You should have read the warranty before you signed.

  2. Check the warranty. I bet the one she was talking about the 2 year 100,000 mile warranty is a manufacturer warranty and the shorter 1 month 1000 mile warranty is the dealer warranty.

  3. not too bright,  you signed without reading the contract?

it is your word against the contract which you signed, who would you believe?

did you pay 9995 or 1095?

you don't have much to stand on, so sorry.

  4. Unfortunately, you don't have any recourse unless your state has a "cooling off period". If it does, you must return it within 72 hours or you're stuck with it. If you have a print out of the email that quoted you $9995 as the selling price, you may try contacting the dealer and demand a refund. Good luck! You can also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and hope they'll arbitrate your case. But that's it.

A lot of questions come to mind while reading your complaint. Why would you sign a contract for a price $1000 more then the price quoted in an email? Why would you sign it without all the details of your warranty in print and spelled out for you? And why would you sign a contract without having each and every disclosure explained clearly to you?

You claim they had you sign. Not so. YOU signed on your own free will. Nobody can make you sign anything unless you're compliant. And you let the salesperson deceive you into agreeing on a higher price. And she conned you into the warranty because you "rolled over" since you wanted that car so badly.

I understand that you're pissed. But you should be pissed at yourself for being such a "lay down". And for being so careless. The moment you saw the actual selling price as $10,995, you should have walked out and never returned. Instead, you signed all the paperwork making the Jeep yours.

You have very little recourse for your mistakes. Chalk up this loss to a hard learning experience. And never let it happen again. The next time you buy a car, you'll be wiser and a smarter shopper.

  5.   Go back to the dealership and ask for the sales manager.  Tell him or her your story.  They usually have you sign something (during all of the paper signing) that says the dealership in not responsible for promises the salesperson tells you.  So in other words, they are not REQUIRED to make good on the warranty, but they might.  If they don't make you happy, file a report with the better business bureau and tell everyone you know how the dealership screwed you so it will hurt their business.  They need to know that bad business policy is going to hurt them.  Personally, if they didn't make it right for me, I would drive down the street with the gas pedal to the floor, pop the transmission in neurtral with the engine floored and let the engine destroy itself.  That way they will have to put a new engine in it.

  6. Simple answer to the question. Nothing can be done. You should have read everything before signing anything. Regarding the comments about the 3 day return period.....it is an often perpetuated myth. There is one for items bought in the home, but NOT for cars. I honestly don't know why people keep saying there is. You are out of luck here. BTW...the BBB can't do anything for you and destroying your engine wont help either.....bad advice.

  7. Quickly bring back the car!!!!!!! U have 3 days to return it with no penalties. I waited 3 weeks and they guarnished my wages!!!!!!!!
