I think my machine is threaded right but it won't catch. It only catches certain material I have a Hill-man sewing machine. What are the more common reasons for this problem ? When I start sewing there are no seams the bobbin is threaded and the first stitch catches but that is all. I have re-thread the machine, changed the bobbin, I don,t know what else to do or say. Someone please have some other ideas.

  1. Check your tension and make sure it's not on "0," check to make sure your 'foot' is down to hold the material, make sure your needle is down before you start, make sure your bobbin winder lever is "off," I've wound a bobbin and then forgot to flip the lever that stops the winding process. Make sure that the thread is "caught" and pull the thread up from the bobbin section so that both threads are up and hold tension. That's all I know from my past mistakes!
