What do I do with all this plastic?

I try to buy as little plastic as possible because my province doesn't recycle it, but I can't give up yogurt! I hate throwing the containers out, but besides using them as Tupperware I'm at a loss. Any thoughts?

  1. Your province is stupid for not recycling it...

Maybe you could use them as flower pots :P

  2. make your own yoghurt and then you wont have to consume food stored in toxic plastic and you wont have to worry about the plastic waste either...

yoghurt is not all that hard to do

  3. Press your community to start a recycle program.  There are many sites on the Internet to get you started.

  4. Typically the plastic from yogurt containers have been a different type than bottles. Number 1 is the easiest to recycle, and number 2 the next easiest to recycle. It's all in the molding? And recycling it is all dependent on a buyer's market. Ten years ago the yogurt containers I was buying were a 5. I wrote the company, and they sent a nice letter, but never changed the packaging. Yogurt containers have changed. But if you have no plastic recycling this can be very frustrating. I remember.

I have always thought about getting one of these yogurt makers. Or you will have to get crafty. Maybe a local school could use them. And there are acidophilus suppliments.

    good luck

  5. Recycle dont burn it.
