What do I do with my goldfish after I cycle my tanks?

When I am done cycling my tanks I want to get tropical fish, but I don't know what to do with my goldfish. I don't know of anyone I can trust to take proper care of them, or afford a big enough tank. (I accidently got comets) I will not flush them or kill them. The only pet stores in my town are Petco and Petsmart I doubt they would take them. Any sugestions?

try craigslist or find someone with a pond, goldfish do best in a pond, just because of their size.

Personally, I would keep them. Just wait until they pass away from natural causes and THEN change your tanks out. :) If you must, I would give them to an aquarium store - NOT somewhere like Wal-Mart, PetsMart, or any 'pet' store that does NOT specialize in fish! This can and usually will harm the little guys.

Hi there i have recently just cycled my tank with comets and i returned them to my local petshop. If you told the petshop that you purchased them from that you only purchased them to cycle your tank im sure they will return them for you. I filled mine with gouramis lovely fish i also have 10 bettas :) not in the same tank of corse.

I would call Pet-Co or Pet-Smart an ask about possibly bringing them out for re-sale, I know that I had taken an unwanted algea eater to Pet-Co a couple of years ago, they took him with no problem at all. As long as the fish are healthy and disease free....you shouldn't have a problem.

If there are any clean, untainted freshwater sources near your home, you could release them there.

sell them on ebay or craiglist. or you can return it at those stores

Try looking on craigslist for someone that has a koi or goldfish pond.  They might tak them from you.  You can always do the best you can with tank size, but that might not be easy.  If you cycled with them, thereis a good chance they will be stunted anyway and might not grow too large.  Don;t give them to petco or petsmart.  ):
