  1. everyones covered what you need, but in case theirs a fire(or other disaster) and theres no one that can help or can trailer your horse out of there for some reason you should have a photo of your horse so if they just let him free so he wont get burned and remember identifying marks/features of your horse:)

  2. Basic horse and human suplies/ tack/ spare rope / spare clothes and dry socks / blankets/ Pocket knife or leatherman tool, canned goods, Fire starter/ a up to date Map of your area.

R/O portable water purifier($50.  buys one that does 2 gallons a hour ) sold at camping stores  and a package or two of the Potable Aqua tablets.  means you only need carry a 5-10gallons of water in the truck.. and can use other water sources safely.

Stuff that sounds stupid, but is handy just the same:

Roll of 50 gallons trashbags ( rain coats...ect)

DUCT TAPE ( it truely holds the world togeather)

Baleing twine ( for when duct tape wont work)

package of large size diapers ( absorbent inside..waterproof outside.. great bandage for large areas or legs..arms..ect)

Saws and basic tool kit ( not likely your gonna find a mechanic Or someone to clear a downed tree from a road)

pad of paper and many pens/ pencils

Anything you absolutely cant do without. medications ect

  3. worry much?

i have in my kit, lots of good quality rope, duct tape, a bag of oats, horse first aid kit, a few towels, hoof care implements, pole protectors, legs protectors, rugs, a clock, big flash light, spare batteries, a coat for me and a video camera, to make my fortune sending the best footage to the news after i survive.

  4. you cant plan for every emergency but you can get a kit ready.you need an evacuation kit with a halter/lead rope with a tag on it with your name, the horses name, working phone number and vets name and number (livestock ear tags work great and make sure it is attached to the halter),shipping boots, blanket and numbers of places that you can call outside of your area for emergency transportation and pasture or barns where you can take your horse in case of natural disaster.horses fare pretty good in storms  but it is good for you to have a emergency kit and also a disaster kit ready in case you and your horse need to get out fast. if you have a trailer always have it clean and check your tires often for dry rot and make sure they are road ready.keep a pair of sturdy wire cutters in case you have to go thru a pasture fence to get out.

edit:i live on the high prairie in colorado and we havent had much rain lately but a lot of dry lightning starting pastures on fire and i have always kept a disaster kit ready with extra ear tags and water buckets.a couple of sharpie pens and a good rechargeable flashlight.

  5. add extra morphine and antibiotics in first-aid kit for a large-scale disaster and a CB radio. Plus a gas mask, few  NBC carnisters, dozen filter masks, chem suit.  My gear also includes a bottle with water filter, 1 pill for all  diarrhea, malaria, and flu,  and solar radio/LED light, space blankets for warming and air signal, 2 compact rain coats for tent, decorate balloons for floating and pillow, and fleece sleeping bag, and lighter.  Sure survive all cases.

-Make sure he is calm in different settings and situations

-Teach him to drink from different buckets, tie to trailers and walls, and to walk under and over everything

  8. I think the most important things are medical supplies and a big tub of water and a hlter and lead rope. Remember if the telephone lines are down or the cell phone tower is down cell phones won't work (DENAI)

I will add more if i think of some

EDIT: balnkets just in case of bad weather
