I don't know what kind of frog he is, but I found and caught him in a ditch near still water at ranch camp a, near sundance, in northern wyoming. I don't have a picture, but he is brownish-gray, dime-sized, with black spots. I just need to know what type he is and what to feed him.

  1. Try to google search and find immages that match the type you have. I had a burrowing frog who speant most it's time underground. It ate baby crickets but it was fussy and uncomfortable and I had to force feed it for the first week. Get it comfy in it's habitat. Give organic potting soil (2 inches deep?) and put water into it so that it's moist but not pooling underneath, it may take some time to absorb and get started, place a large soaking bowl in the center of a 10 gal tank for it to bathe, keep the temp warm but don't use direct heat, do a heating pad on the side of the tank where it won't get itself burnt, but it will get the heat. Once it's feeling safe, and oh, don't handle it after placing it into it's tank, just let it get a sense of ownership in there. Then put 2 small crickets and a tiny inch worm or a baby tomato worm. http://mulberryfarms.com/orders.htm I get tomato worms here. The heat pad will give a nice temp, the dirt and water will feel natural, it takes time for a wild one but it might turn out to be a great thing. You will also need to shop around for an exotic animal vet to check it out so that you won't be catching something disqusting like pinworms from it.

  2. If you caught him in your area, then you shouldn't need a heat lamp of any kind, just a tank lid with a fluorescent light.  You'd only need a heat lamp if he was from a place much hotter than where he is now. Like with leopard geckos, they come from places high in temperature, so I have to give mine one because I live in Oregon.  I have pacific tree frogs and I only give them a fluorescent bulb.  Your frog sounds like a young Wyoming Spotted Frog....go figure haha.  If it is what I think it is then it'll grow to be 10 cm for a female and up to 7 cm for a male.   Definantly make sure you give her a tank where she can be in water and go on land if he or she wants to.  I've read spotted frogs are usually highly aquatic, but I'd do more research. I'm not sure what they eat, but usually you can feed frogs petstore bought worms and crickets, you'll need to find tinnnyyy crickets.  Also, look and ask someone about supplements in the petstore or at a vets office. Good luck.

But since you don't know what it is for sure or how to care for it you should put it back and buy one from the store,

  3. Go back to the ditch and look for bugs

  4. put it back where you found it...if you want a captive frog go buy one at the store thats used to being in captivity.

  5. crickets.

not sure what kind though but all frogs eat crickets.
