Question:

What do I have, ADD or OCD? Something completely different?

Here's my problem. I have a thing for pealing and picking. On school binders I pick at the corners and when it starts to come apart I am compelled to peal it off. The feelings of obsession and relief when I peel at the corners is similar to how I feel when I pick at scabs or bite my nails. Any sort of loose edge that can be taken off is always picked at by me. Finally, I pull at my eyebrows. Growing up I've always had a thing against my bushy eyebrows. However, now I've damaged my eyebrows tremendously. I pull at them with my fingers at various times feeling this almost compulsive desire to get rid of stray hairs that may stand out. I've left my eyebrows barren before and have tried prozac. Though I didn't think it worked much

  1. sounds like trichotillomania, the hair pulling disorder. It sounds like a problem you should consult with a doctor.

  2. It's anxiety and OCD... you're compelled to do these things. I have a thing to pull the ends of my hair, and in 7th grade I used to pull it out completely. I went bald in one spot, but that's something totally different. If you don't do these things do you feel anxiety, or just MORE fixated on it? If you feel both, it's OCD to combat anxiety.

  3. you have ADD. there is nothing wrong with it.

  4. Pretty sure that's OCD. I sort of do the same thing with my school binders. Another thing I do is whenever I use a styraphome cup or plate I have to tear it up before I throw it away....wierd, huh?
