  1. its not necessary to attend college but its highly recommended.. you dont have to serve in the military.. you could either go to your local airport and find a flight instructor or go to a college with an aviation program.. first you would get your private pilot certificate, then instrument rating, then commercial certificate, followed by your multi engine add on.. plan on spending atleast 50k for your flight training and if you go to college, it will cost another 50k probably.. once your a commercial pilot, you can get a job but with little experience you probably wont have much luck.. so you will need to get your flight instructor ratings.. this is the path that most people take.. once you have instructed for a couple years, you will have enough experience to get a job with a regional airline and you can work your way up from there to the majors.. if the airlines isnt your cup of tea then maybe you can start out in the freight business to gain experience after you're done instructing.. either way.. once you get a thousand hours or two, you can pretty much go in whichever direction you want..

  2. First, I would read all of the answers that came up when you first typed in the question.  This is asked several times a day, and many people give really good answers.  Then, if you need something more specific, I would suggest you go to an aviation message board.  You will find many more experts there than here, even though many of the people here are very good.  There are just more people who fly on aviation message boards.  Good luck.

  3. On 9-11 the terrorists just hijacked the planes and flew them. They weren't commercial pilots!

First get your pilots license. That will be single engine.

Second, after a few years and lots of studying, go for your twin engine license.

Thirdly, after more studying and simulator runs and practice, you can apply for your commercial license.

If you pass all these, you will be a commercial pilot if someone hires you.
