I have two standard piercings in my left ear. After using the same earrings for a while, I decided to buy two earrings off of ebay. They haven't arrived yet, but I read that one is 5mm, and the other is 16mm. I don't know a lot about piercings past what I already have done, so I just want to know what I'm going to have to do to make sure I can use these.

  1. One mm at a time...

    You'll be needing to buy a 1.6, 2.4, 3.2, 4, 5, 6 and all the others in between too.

And tapers to get the hole bigger.

Thats if you're on about stretching your piercings. If its the same gauge and you're on about length or diameter, then just ignore me ^-^

  2. Pretty much, you are going to have to gauge up. A 5mm is the equivalent of a 4g. 16mm's are around 5/8". Meaning...you need to taper up! Gauging is something that you should really think about. =]] You know what I mean? It takes time, patience and a bit more money (mainly because you need buy more jewelry to get to your desired size). And that's pretty much all you have to do.

Hope I helped a bit! Good luck! ^_^
