I have a B.Sc in a non-engineering field. My M.Sc in environmental engineering is not ABET recognized. Is there a state I can do the exam with out having a B.Sc in engineering. Please advise

  1. The rule in NY State is 4 years of ABET Engineering = 8 years of professional experience. You need one or the other to qualify for the EIT.

Since you evidently took a Bach. in non engineering you are out of luck there. Your Masters almost qualifies you for 2 years engineering school, which translates to 4 years professional experience. So even if you could convince someone that the non ABET is qualification you are still short 4 years professional experience.

New York wont take a non-engineering AND non ABET Bach and give you the equivalent of 8 years professional experience nor, I suspect will any other State.

Bottom line you need 8 years of professional engineering experience to be admitted into the exam.
