What do I have to look for when buying loud speakers?

My bro always turns his music up and I can hardly hear mine! So if I want loud ones what have I got to bear in mind?

speakers wont make your sound bigger your amp dos that so the way to go buy a new system or active speakers ie you plug them into your power sockets if you still want bigger speakers then if they are to powerful they will be under driven so the sound will be rubbish ie no bass if over driven they will blow depending on your system use a pre amp but match the amp and speakers or the above affects will happen
