I decided to change my major to Elementary Education and I need to take part 1 and part 2. What is it that I learn in this class? What kind of problems? Of course I've read the course description but it does not tell me much. The reason why I wanted to know is because I planned on taking the second part online due to work.

  1. Algebra and calculus I guess , u can always ask them for the syllabus before enrolling.

  2. The actual level of math in this class is usually not very advanced but but it goes into basic math concepts at a much deeper level.  Most of us simply learn to find the answer to a problem.  To teach math you need to actually understand the concepts well enough to explain them to someone else.

Some people like doing this kind of math course online since there is more time to think over the concepts.  Just make sure you have access to math help in case you get stuck.  The online instructor will try to help but there will be times you want to use the university's math tutoring/ lab services.

  3. Its probably more analytical math, like problem solving geared toward teaching children math concepts.
