  1. 1. Staffing-The ratio of kids to children should be adequate for their age.

    2. Cleanliness

    3. Check with BBB and DHR to see if there had been any complaints

    4. Ask how long the teachers have been there, if they have been there a long time that is great and your child will have a stable caregiver.

    5. Curriculum---- Make sure there some sort of structure

    6. Atmosphere--Observe the facility for 15 minutes and see if you see anything that would be out the ordinary.

    7. gut instinct----always trust...if it don't feel right move on to the next one.

  2. Enough staff. Cleanliness. Attentiveness

  3. These are all very good answers. i just wanted to add one thing.

before placing your child in one place, make an unexpected visit. this way they can't plan a nice scene for you. unfortunately i've found that its not always the facility that is bad but some of the kids that attend the place.

    Good luck

  4. Make sure the place is clean and that there is a security system in place.  You need to know that you and whoever you designate are the only people that can visit or pick up your child.  Observe how the workers are interacting with the children and make sure you are comfortable.  Make sure they have a policy that allows you to drop in unannounced at any time.  If they don't allow it, you have to wonder why.  Also, discuss their procedures for dealing with a sudden illness - do they wait for the parent, do they take the child to the hospital?  Are the workers first aid and CPR certfied.  I think that the most important thing is how you feel about the environment.  Will you be comfortable leaving your child in that environment with the people that are employed there.

  5. visit the place and make sure it is kid friendly and clean.  also make sure that the staff is well behaved and doesnt use bad words or wear skimpy clothes (their behavior WILL rub of on your child)  also make sure the staff interact with the children well and dont hurt them or yell at them or put them down by saying bad things to them.  Also, make sure they have tight security even if its in a nice neighborhood.
