First off, I know little to nothing about sound systems.

I read on xbox.com, that I require a Toslink cable to have a digital connection, and to get surround sound.

Now my question is what do I need to buy?

I guess I need to buy the Toslink Cable.

Then can I plug it directly into a Surround Sound Speaker System?

Or do I need a reciever or whatever?

Whats the cheapest combination of speakers and cables and whatever else I need to get my 360 to use Surround Sound?

ATM I have my 360 pluged into my TV with component cables using basic red and white audio cables.

And the 360 has a Toslink output.

Ask if you need other information.

  1. If you have a reciever with speakers all you need to do is plug in the Toslink cord in the back of the xbox and into the reciever, you do not need to plug in the red and white cables though. If you don't have a speaker system with a reciever, you can simply go to walmart, target, or bestbuy. But make sure that it has an input for the Toslink (it is also called optical).
