What do I need for the xbox 360?

Question

I am buying my husband a 360 for christmas.. now couple questions.

what games? He is into the search and rescure kill games/army i dunno what they are really..some games he has for his old xbox are like doom, black, halo ect..

i was thinking halo 3, and that rainbow 6.. not sure if they are good.

does he NEED the live card? or the hard drive, i see some come with the 20 or 60gb hard drive.. what is it used for? also he doesn't play with anyone else, or know anyone who has one, so would we need the live card? do you need to know anyone to play with it, i'm so confused.. and one or two controllers?? he usually just plays the games himself and doesn't have anyone else to play with.... PLEASE HELP

also, would it be better to buy now, or wait until closer to x-mas

If your going to buy an xbox 360, I would personally wait until close to Christmas, simply because the 360 is going to drop in price around November.  He might like these games: Call of Duty 4, Halo 3, Gears of War, Rainbow 6..

If he would like to play online against other people, which I think is more fun, then yes he would need an xbox live card.

I have a 20 gb...Does me just fine.  It's to hold music, pictures, etc.

The elite version ain't that much better. I would stick with Pro.

The Elite is better. You dont have 2 get anything just these games Halo 3, Army of 2, Rainbow 6, and Call of Duty 4

get him Gears of War and madden 09, GoW 2 comes out in nov but he will be lost, get him both if u want. definitely the best game on 360 hands down.

get two wireless controllers, get the elite comes with em, get him the black one.

they come with everything needed, the only thing u need to get is the games and an extra controller if u get the basic one.

The game recommendations mcbitchj gave are good. I also second his recommendation to wait until Christmas. Not only will the price go down, you can probably find a good deal, maybe a bundle with some nice games. But make sure you GET A 360 WITH A HARD DRIVE. The HD is used to save game files and anything else you might download. If you get a 360 without a HD, you will need a game card to save files. However, they're quite small compared to an HD, so I'd suggest you just go with the Pro system.

If he likes those type of games then he will absolutely need to have "Call of Duty 4" & "Halo 3".

The Live card is used to get on-line. Getting on-line will allow him to play people from around the world!!!!  He does not need to know any one. The game will automatically find someone to play against. He could make new friends on-line that like to play the same games. Keep in mind that if you go with this option you will have to have high speed internet at the house.

He will need a hard drive. Most likely he wont need a large one unless he plans on downloading a lot of content. ( which would require the live card)

Content: With an XBOX live account you can download new games , content for your existing games , movies, and music!!!  I have managed to get by with a 20 gig for awhile now. You can also buy a larger hard drive later if its needed. (Is easily swapped out)

One controller should be enough if he doesn't play with anyone else. One could be bought later if you maybe decide to start playing too.

He won't need the elite version and the Arcade version will not be enough. I suggest the XBOX 360 version with the 60 Gig drive.

I would wait a little closer to Christmas there will most likely be bundle deals that some time include games like at Wal-Mart, Toy R Us or Best Buy.

What games Those two are good games. Id Say Call Of Duty 4 Though its much more better. If you wait till christmas you will see a game call LEFT 4 Dead, Gears of War 2 really great games that he will probably take into playing. Does he need the live no he dosent. What is it about well if you do get it for him, he can play online, which means he plays ,halo 3 for example, and he can play against other people around the world. You need internet, dsl or cable internet perferably, and he can play online with others.

Controllers well do you wana play, im not sure if you were/are into games but there are these new games and some classic games that are great to. Those games are called arcade games on xbox live.

ok the system get it early beacuse like any system christmas is the time everyone buys. Games wait till Dec28 (black friday) and get some deals, Target is one great place also Best Buy.

Elite Version Well its not BETTER but it has more space 120gb...see thats if he would love to download shows or games and alot of downloading, which is alot of money to fill. 60gb sounds good for me and i enjoy downloading so me and girlfriend can watch her shows or movies when we are board. Halo its beacuse its green not worth it stay away from that.

THat link above scroll down and you see what it has and what it dose not. The arcade is "going to lower" but im not to sure. See thing is id advise a 20gb or 60gb beacuse its a good memory size but its your money so i can not say. But if you wait a little bit till after November 14th you might see another xbox "type of setup".
