When I go off to college I want to bartend because I have heard it is a great way to make money. The problem is I don't know where to start! I might take a course but I have heard people say it is a waste of time and money, is that true? Shouldn't I have some experience? Or do employers hirer beginner bartenders who don't have experience? Basically I would like to know some info that will help me get into bar tending. Answers from actual bartenders would be great! If you are a bartender ( a good one ), share how you got to where you are today!

Thanks

  1. Many states, here in America require you to have, a food handlers permit and some require a certificate in bartending. Go to a good wine and beer bar in your area and see what they require and apply for a job. Get to know the place and the customers. It would be worth it. Foodhandlers permits only take a day of instruction and are given all over all the time. Contact your health department. Good luck.
