What do I need to bring to Mexico?

Ok, here's the situation. I'm a legal US citizen born outside of the US(Germany) and not on the Air Force Base so my birth certificate is weird. I want to go to Mexico this July, and I want to know what I need to bring to get across the border and back without question of my citizenship.

Basically what sort of documentation/proof do I need? I have a drivers license, Military ID, Soc. Card, and my birth certificate. But I need to know what's accepted.

  1. Going across the border, you don't need to show anything.  Coming back to the U.S., you should be fine with your birth certificate and either your driver's license or military ID.  (Social Security cards are useless.)  One of my friends also has an odd birth certificate (she was born at home and never registered at the hospital), so I'm sure the immigration officials are accustomed to seeing strange ones.  Worst case scenario, they'll pull you aside and ask questions. I take it that you don't have a U.S. passport?

  2. Your military ID is just as good as a passport, as long as your ID is current you should have no problem going. I went in and out freely with my military ID.   Have fun..

  3. passport only.
