What do I need to burn a video tape to a dvd on my dvd drive on my computer?

It's not a copywrited video....it is of a show that I played trumpet in.

It depends on what kind of video tape... Step 1 is getting the video into the computer.

If that tape is VHS or VHS-C, use a VHS VCR (the VHS-C tape will need the little holder so it will fit in the VHS VCR). Connect the video/audio out from the VCR to the video/audio in of an analog/digital bridge like

and connect the A/D bridge to your computer using USB or firewire as appropriate.

If your computer has a video capture card, then you can use the AV connection from the VCR to the capture card.

If the video tape is Super8, Hi8 or some other analog format - or if you have the VHS-C camcorder, connect the camcorder to the A/D bridge as described under the VHS VCR connection instructions.

If the video tape is digital - miniDV or Digital 8 - you can use the analog connection describe above, or you can connect the camcorder's DV port to the Firewire port (IEEE1394a, i.Link - all the same thing) of your computer. If your computer does not have a firewire400 port, they are typically easy to add
