  1. car seat

    crib

    crib bedding & extra sheets

diapers not to many of smaller sizes as they grow out of them quickly

    wipes

    clothes

stroller (the travel system is best comes with stroller car seat and base for car and car seat attaches to stroller)

moniter if baby wont be in same room as you

bassinet if you want baby in your room at first

    a swing is always nice

and just go with nuetral colors if you dont know the s*x.

    good luck and congrats

  2. I can suggest:

try not to buy anything but the basics until AFTER the baby is born, all you really need are some diapers(check out gdiapers.com) and some basic clothing and the car seat. You can wait for the stroller and take baby with you so you find one that works for baby and you....

you can go shopping a few days after birth, and this gives you a reason to get out! other than doctor appointments....

  3. okay heres a basic guide of things, i hope i can help.

    1-Newborn Baby Clothing:

You need sleep suits for your newborn. The selection of baby sleep suit material should depend on the season. Buy thick warm sleep suits, if your baby is born in the winter months. Vice versa you should buy thin cotton ones if your baby is born in the summer months.

6 undershirts that snap on the bottom or tie on the side, commonly called "onesies" (3 in three-month size and 3 in six-month size)

3-4 infant gowns with elastic bottoms or draw strings. These make for easy diaper changes. All you have to do is pull the gown up over the belly to change the diaper and then pull it back down when finished. There is no stumbling around trying to snap the gown back together, which is especially nice when it's 3 am and all you want to do is get baby back to sleep so that you can get back to sleep.

6 sleepers/stretch suits (3 newborn to three-month size and 3 in six-month size). These are nice to put baby in during the day, but are not essential items. When buying these, make sure you get the kind that zip up the front. These are easier to get baby in and out.

3-4 pairs of booties or socks with stretch elastic band at cuff

    3-4 receiving blankets

1 blanket to cover swaddled baby in crib

    1 sweater and hat

    2-Nappy/ Diaper Changing:

-DIAPERS - newborns use 90 - 100 per week (but grow very quickly,

-so don't buy a gross of newborn size disposables)

-Soft white washcloths for diaper changes.

-Bucket and safety pins if using terry toweling nappies.

-Nappy sacks (use fragrant ones for those smelly nappies)

-Baby wipes (use thick soft wipes they are gentler to baby’s bottom or cotton wool and water is just as good).

    -Changing mat

    -Nappy cream like soda cream

-Changing bag for traveling (try to get one that has a built in changing mat)

    3-Baby Bathing Gear:

-Baby bath (you can usually buy baby baths that have a number of different accessories with them like thermometer, towel, potty and more they often work out cheaper)

    -Shampoo, Baby soap, sponge, flannel

    -Baby brush/comb, scissors

    -Baby lotion, oil, talc

-Baby towel (the softer the towel the better. Always wash towels before using them)

    -Thermometer

    4-Baby Sleeping Gear:

-For the first few months you will need either a Moses Basket, crib or carry cot. While buying a baby cot, look for the British standard mark BS 1753. The cot must be sturdy and the mattress must fit firmly so baby’s head can not get stuck in any spaces. It might be worth while investing in a cot bed that will last up until your child is five years old.

-Mattress: If you can afford, always buy a new mattress and make sure it is hard and firm. Try and get one with a plastic cover on.

-Sheets: Fitted sheets are easiest but can be a bit expensive. Buy at least four sheets as they need changing quite often.

-Several light blankets. Better choose light colours. Keep baby close by at night for the first few months and never use a pillow or duvet.

-Beside these baby essentials which are needed by all moms for their newborns, some other items, like breast feeding gears, baby furniture etc also needed.

Dresser: You will need a few drawers to store baby's clothes and toys.

Rocking chair or glider: Although not essential, it's nice to have when feeding baby. Pick one out that has padded arms for extra support and comfort. A footrest adds additional comfort, especially if breastfeeding.

Nightlight: Not essential, but it helps you see during those middle of the night diaper changes and feedings.

Baby bathtub (sloping with foam pad or flat with molded sponge insert)

4 terry cloth bath towels (hooded towels are OK, but not necessary)

    4-6 washcloths

    Tearless shampoo

Baby soap. Many brands make baby shampoo and soap all in one.

    Brush and comb

You may want to check with your baby's doctor before the first bath. Some doctors recommend that you wait until the umbilical cord has fallen off and the circumcision site has healed before giving your baby a tub bath. In the meantime sponge baths work great.

12 bottles. Even if you are breastfeeding, you should have bottles to use for pumped breast milk.

    12 nipples and covers

1 bottle and nipple brush for cleaning

Dishwasher basket for bottles and nipples (optional, but makes for easy cleaning)

Infant formula and measuring cup (if you are not breastfeeding). Use the brand recommended by your child's doctor.

    12 Burp cloths

    6 Bibs

    and a few other essentials:

Newborn-size pacifier: Many lactation consultants recommend not using a pacifier if you are breastfeeding to prevent nipple confusion in your baby.

Infant car seat: This can also be used as a baby carrier. And you can find stroller frames that the infant car seat can snap into so that you don't have to carry the car seat at all times, which can get heavy. If you decide to get a stroller that your infant car seat can snap in to, make sure you get one that fits your infant carrier.

Breast pump for breastfeeding moms: Breast pumps allow you to pump milk so that someone else can feed your baby. This is important if you need to leave your baby for a significant amount of time (for example, if you are working). Breast pumps also come in handy when your b*****s get engorged and baby is too sleepy to help you out. With a breast pump you can pump some of the milk out and save it for when baby is ready to eat

    Baby Gear: Nonessentials (But Nice-to-Have!)

    Baby monitor

    Swing

Baby book: Essential if you want to record your baby's firsts.

Infant seat: A "bouncy" seat is great! It gives you a safe place to put baby while you do things for yourself.

High chair: You will use it when baby is 4-6 months old

Baby sling or pouch: These come in handy when you need to have your hands free to get things done around the house, but still carry your baby.

Also many women forget about there hospital bag! heres a link to babycentre what too pack in your hospital bag

    www.babycentre.co.uk

  4. I found a sling to carry baby up close, more helpful than a stroller for closeness, convenience with stairs, buses, crowds, etc.

Bassinet, no need for a big formal crib at first. Check the latest on how babies should sleep, was on the side 10 years ago, so I got a padded holder to prop him that way

If you want to breasfeed, get yourself some outfits with easy access (there are dresses with a flap, bras that let down, etc)

  5. not a lot of clothes and no 0-3 month sizes. they grow to fast it's scary!!! i am a first time mom and bought all this name brand clothing that she never even  wear.  shop at walmart, old navy for the first two years.

  6. Just tell your doctor you don't WANT to know.  They probably won't tell you, unless they accidentally slip.

    Essentials:

    Crib

    Clothing

    Diapers

    Car seat

Bottles (unless you're breastfeeding which is way cheaper!)

  7. *girly scream*

Congratz!!!! I have 4 weeks to go before mine comes!!!!

I found i really didnt need to buy anything, as i got given loads of stuff.!

Newborn babies dont need to be all dressed up.. as long as they are kept warm and snug thats all that matters, so u dont need to buy loads of fancy clothes, even though it is sooo tempting.. (well buy a few!) hehe. Your baby spends much of its first week of life outside the womb becoming accustomed to its new surroundings. After nine months inside, so much space, light and noise are very new to the bub, so she likes being swaddled while making the adjustment.

For the hospital bag... u will need:

One outfit for the trip home (all-in-one stretchy outfits are easiest)

Two to three babygros and vests for baby to wear while you are in hospital. Some hospitals provide baby gowns for your baby to wear during its stay.

Baby blanket (a warm one if weather is cold)

    Nappies

One pair of socks or booties

    Hat

Jacket or snowsuit for winter babies.

After you get home, you need lots and lots of vests/ sleepsuits.. and bibs.. lots of bibs!

But in cream... as you dont want to know the s*x...

CONGRATS again.. and good luck.. :)

  8. There are lots of cream and white babygrows/bodysuits that are available and during your stay in hospital your baby will not need much else clothing wise maybe some scratch mits and a hat and a warm cardigan, you will find that as soon as you have the baby news will travel fast and relatives and friends will be bombarding u at hospital with pink or blue outfits. other than that....

Babygrows aprox 6 in newborn and 0-3months incase u have a big baby

vests/body suits aprox 6 in different sizes again

scratch mits at least 2 pair

    socks

    Hat

    Cardigan or warm jacket

    Bibs

    nappies either disposable or washable

    pram

    moses basket

cot but you wont need this till at least 6 weeks

car seat if u will be using a vehicle

    dummies/soothers

bottles, steriliser and formula milk if you are not breast feeding

a cot or pram mobile to stimulate your baby's senses

Thats about all the esentials i can think of frm the top of my head you will find there is alot more but they arent all nessesery  good luck hun, x
