What do I need to buy to take my shows off my Time Warner DVR and put them on my computer, there is a usb port

I know for a fact there is a way but how do I? I want to do it USB if I need to buy the cords where do I get them at?

You can buy USB cords anywhere that sells electronics. The Source, Future Shop, Best Buy...

Try plugging one end into your DVR and the other into your computer. If it's a standard-definition box, it may work, however many HDTV digital boxes have been locked from doing this because production companies don't want you to have HD copies of their shows.
