Question:

What do I need to connect two DSL lines?

I have an older computer in the house and would like to connect it to our DSL. It, of course, does not have an ethernet plugin on the back but it does have USB. I already have a USB cord that goes with my router, but it is too short to go into the other room. Is there a way to connect just an ethernet cable, then maybe using a coupler, connect the USB cable into it and into the computer. Would this work? If so, what kind of coupler would I need? Would this be fine:

If not could you please tell me what I could do?

  1. I think you can use USB to Fast Ethernet Adapter

  2. The product thats in the link works as a repeater for an ethernet wire, not for usb. Its kind of hard to understand what your trying to do but im going to try my best.

So you have 2 computers I'm guessing? What i dont get is why you have a router. But either way, your connection should be (internet ---> router ---> desktop) If you want to connect a second computer  via a physical medium you have two options. buy an ethernet to usb connector, or just buy an ethernet adaptor for $15-$20 and install that in your computer. Then run a cat5e cable from your router port to that computer.

OR what you could do is since you have a usb port, just buy a usb wireless adaptor and install the drivers in your old computer. I would just make sure that your usb port is usb 2.0 and not 1.0 since you say your computer is old but not how old. 2.0 runs at 480mbps and 1.0 runs at I think 12mbps.
