What do I need to consume before and after a workout?

I am 15, 6'2, 175 lb, and trying to gain muscle mass. I am going to start going to the gym to work out, and learned that I need to consume and do certain things to gain the muscles. What do I need to do before and after the work out? I know one of them is to drink Whey Protien like Optimum Nutrition.

  2. I'm not being funny but this is such a broad subject. You'd be better just googling 'bodybuilding basics' or something like that. There's so much info to read on the subject. It's not as simple as eat a healthy diet and workout.

  3. Well I would suggest bananas or other high protein healthy foods before you work out to help keep you going, and then after not too much because you should let yourself relax a little bit. I don't know too much about it, but I do know that eating bananas before sports or working out is a great idea! Even afterwards eating a banana or some other fruit is good, maybe an apple afterwards? Good LUCK!! :D
