What do I need to cross the Mexican border??

if i am 18 and crossing to go into tijuana, what else to i need to get in besides my drivers license (i will have two to three passengers, from 16-18 yr. old) ??

you are now required to have a passport to get back into the usa.

with all the violence, killings, muggings against foreigners in mexico, I would never consider going there. My life is to valuable to loose it over a mugging or car jacking.

I have been researching this question myself.  Stan (above) is correct.  Restrictions were placed on entry to the USA, but the backlog of people trying to get passports forced the government to delay the implementation of the new passport requirement until 2008.

Assuming you are a U.S. citizen, bring your ID and birth certificate if you were born here.  Contrary to the other answer above, you will not require a passport until Jan. 2008.
