What do I need to cut out shapes from 1/16 inch wood?

I am hoping to cut shapes from a thin piece of wood, to make items that would be worn around the neck. I wish to make them quite small, so a something able to cut finely would be nice. I have been told of a rotary tool and a wood router. Which is ideal? Any help or advice appreciated. Thank you.

  1. Try a Dremel drill.  These things are great for most intricate work.  I don't do this sort of thing with mine but I use it for other DIY related tasks and would be lost without it.

The links below are for the Dremel website and also a cheap retailer that I use myself.
