I know I need the DVD's, but what do I need to buy on my own that does not come with the set?

  1. I'm on my second round of P90X and here's the equipment I recommend:

    Essentials:

Yoga mat - get a good, soft, cushy one

Dumbbells - 5lb, 10lb, 15lb, 25lb, 35lb, 50lb (You may need only a few of these, depending on what you liff)  You need heavier weights for presses and such, but lighter weights for tricep kickbacks and some of the core synergistic exercises.

    - If you don't want to use dumbbells, you can use any good resistance band with handles

Pull up bar - either a tower (I got mine for $70 at Sports Authority) or a bar that fits in your doorway.  You can also use resistance bands.

    Not necessary but help:

Yoga block (not necessary, but it helps if you're not too flexible - you can also just use a 25lb dumbbell, so don't waste your money if you don't think you'll use it)

Push-up bars (only need these if you want extra distance on your push ups or your wrists have issues)

Good luck.  And just remember, during your first phase (considering I don't know how fit you are or how much you're used to working out) you will be extremely sore.  But pace yourself, do your best and keep it up.  This is by far the best fitness and nutrition program that I've ever come across.  I'll probably do this forever.  Best of luck!

Pull-up bar (either a tower or a bar that fits in your doorway)

Chair or stool (for swing kicks, chair presses and inverted pushups

Oh, also, whether you plan on following the nutrition guide by the book (which I recommend) or not, I would suggest purchasing a food scale.  This will help portion out salmon, chicken and other ingredients.  It helps a ton!
