  1. Go to the nearest Mexican Consulate... take your Passport and a Certified copy of your birth certificate... get a statement from your bank or brokerage firm that you have an INDEPENDENT INCOME of $1000 PER MONTH, so you will not have to WORK in Mexico...  fill out the paperwork for your FM-3... pay the $137 charge... And you are an instant Mexican.

THEN... once you have the FM-3, you will need to BUY Mexican car insurance... about $260 to $300 for a year.. you will need to post a BOND before taking it into mexico of about $1000... you will pay additional fees before you enter the country of maybe another $300 and THEN and ONLY THEN are you ready to go to mexico to find you love and your fortune... doing it YOUR way, can get a whole lot more unpleasant... and expensive.

  2. Young1 stole that answer from another question/answerer and that's not what u asked anyway.........

I had a french teacher who married a mexican woman and, even if one thinks that marrying a local citizen should make it easier for you to become a resident, it isn't really that way. You may want to talk to an attorney specialized in immigration to know what the requirements are. For starters, you need to apply for a special permit to reside in the country for over 6 months (which is the limit for tourists), and if you're going to work you need an FM3 visa too. You have to apply for those on our immigration institute. Go to their website for further info: http://www.inm.gob.mx/Principal.asp , you might find accurate information there.

  3. WHY would you want to become a Mexican citizen? Move your new wife the the US.
