What licences do I need to get?

What order would you recommend getting them in?

How much does an airline pilot get paid?

Thanks for your help!

  1. Get your medical done - if okay then:-

Join a flying club and obtain your Private/Commercial licences (Single & Multi engine) with Instrument rating. Then you will have to log hours (commuter/cargo etc) to obtain your ALTP Licence which will qualify you to become an airline pilot after the necessary type ratings etc. You will have to do simulator in between. You may follow the above order.

You do not require a degree, just the above qualifications.

Airline pilots make anything in excess of US$ 20,000 + every month depending on experience and the airline you are working for.

  2. Click on the source links I posted below for detailed information.

The first source link describes what licenses and certifications you need.

The second source link describes salaries for different airlines.

The third source link describes everything in more detail.

  4. Airline pilots make a good amount of money but it depends significantly on destination and what airport you fly out of. There is a significant jump in salary if you can make captain but that won't happen over night.

Degrees in any field are recommended for airline pilots (though this wasn't true in the past). Degrees in engineering are the best.

  5. Even before you start your first flight or ground lesson, you should get a medical examination. The you will know if your healthy enough to be a pilot. There's no point in investing an enormous amount of money in flight training if you're medically unfit. Obtain the first class medical certificate because that has the most benefits.

After that work on obtaining your PPL (private pilot license). A pilot's pay depends on your rank, the airline, ,type of aircraft, seniority, etc. Good luck earning your wings.
