We have just finally put our new pool up for the season and now don't know where to start to get it going. We are hooking up the skimmer, filter and pump tonight. It is a 12x24 above ground. What else do we need to do to be able to use it? What chemicals do we need and how do we add them? Step by step instructions are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

  1. the other two answers dont know what they are talking about. i own a pool company. what you do is fill it,   then add stablizer/conditioner to water so it will hold clorine then add liquid clorine one quarter gallon at a time every 24 hours until 3.0 on clorine test kit.also get a tablet floater. take that floater out every time you add clorine for a few minutes then put back in if pool is above ground add sock to water in bucket and stir until it it is desolved.

  2. Fill it with water.  Bring a water sample to the store where you get your chemicals.  They can do a test to tell you what you need to add, when, and what amounts.

The water may need Calcium Hardness added, or Metal Remover.   It might need PH or Alkilinity increaser, or decreaser.

Then they may have you 'shock' the water with chlorine.

And all this is done before you start your regulated chlorine.

  3. #1 add water

    #2 read the instructions

    if that fails

#3 talk to someone where you bought it or a pool supplies store.
