I live in Florida,I am 17(turning 18 in 10 days and would like to get my license within a few days after my birthday.I do not have my permit because well,my mom wouldn't let me get one when I was 16 and figured why get one when I'm 17 when in a year I can just drive by myself.I do know how to drive,I've taken my moms car and driven with her/my gf a few times, sue me.But what documents do I need exactly?Or what tests do I have to take? Will it be a while before I can get my license?

Keep in mind I have done NOTHING towards getting my permit or license,at all.

  1. If you are 18 or older and have never held a driver's license, you are considered a new applicant.

To apply for a new Class E license, bring the following to your local office:

Two forms of identification, which must be original or certified.

Social Security card, if you have one.

Proof that you've completed a Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education course.

    $20 fee.

You'll be tested on traffic laws and road signs with a 20-question multiple-choice test for each, as well as hearing and vision.

You'll also need to take a driving test. You are responsible for providing the vehicle for your test, and it must have valid registration, proof of insurance, and pass an inspection. See the Florida Driver Handbook for details about driving skills.
