I would like to start teaching a kickboxing class for cardio. What legal steps do I need to take to do this without getting into trouble. I am not certified, but have many years of experience. It would just be a small class with mostly friends but I know that they will want to bring friends and so on and it will get bigger and I want to do things right so that I don't have to worry about it in a legal sense if it does grow.

  1. I dont know all about this stuff but, you could teach kickboxing and say you made up your own style.

    EVERY ONE GO TO WWW.fight-site.com

  2. It depends on where you will hold the class at.

    For example:

If you hold it at a local gym, they will usually have the insurance and what not covered.  They will hire you based on an evaluation of you.

If you open your own school, there are a myriad of legal issues you have to consider such as, licensing, business permits, insurance, safety/cpr/first aid training.

If you open it in your house/garage, you are putting yourself and personal property at risk against lawsuits.  Again, you will have to register a business liscense, get insurance, etc...

I teach ONLY CLOSE friends currently in a mini-gym I built in my garage.  Its not really a class though, only friends practicing together.  I do have my own business, but am not insured, hence I don't teach.

    Hope this helps.
