What do I need to do to to get noticed by a recruiter for volleyball?

I really love volleyball and want to get recruited by Stanford. I need a scholarship to go college, and if anything I would love it to be a volleyball scholarship. I am a sophomore, but I hope to be on Varsity this year. I know that they can't talk to you unless you are a senior, but I would like to know how to get their attention.

I agree...making a tape and listing your stats is a great way to get a recruiters attention, then if you do make the varsity team, send out invitations to the recruiters to come and see you in a championship game, this way they know you are serious about the game and playing for their school.  Another way is to keep up with your academics, keep your grade point average up as high as you possibly can, this will prove to them that you are able to balance school and sports (very important)

Keep working at it, go to any open houses that the school holds and try to speak with the volleyball coach to find out what they look for in their players, talk to other students, or an advisor at the school to see how many sports scholarships they give out and what are the grade requirements to stay in the sports program for their school.

First things first!!! Make sure you are cleared by the NCAA! One thing you HAVE to have when getting cleared for that is your SAT scores. Without them, you can't get cleared. Ask your coach. ;-). Then, you can do everything everybody just said. Oh and make sure you fill out recruiting questionairres on Stanford's website, if they have any. Don't forget to also fill out more for other schools. ;-) I'm a senior now so I REALLY have to work my butt off. I've been on Varsity since Junior year...really sophomore, but yeah. Just work your hardest. Make your coaches WANT to help you. Don't slack off in school! ;-)

be good at volleyball and never ever ever miss a chance to play at school at a public game, i'm talkin' check out YMCA if you have to!

A friend of mine did a "campaign" for her daughter.  She made video tapes of her playing, did up a "resume" (physical stats, listing accomplishments, awards, positions played, etc) and mailed it to prospective schools. . .  I would also be sure to attend camps with coaches from big schools there - that is where a lot of recruiting is done.  Send letters of interest, ask for help from your coach, get your name out there.

They can talk to you whenever they want.  If you are really good send in a tape to the coach and invite him to come to your game.  Your current coach should be advising you on this.  Go and visit Stanford and see what they are all about.  Keep your options open, just don't rely on one school.  There are tons of great schools out there small and big that are good for volleyball and athletics.  If you don't have the academic part, you can forget about the rest.  If the recruiter comes be yourself.  Hopefully, you will run from place to place and not be lazy.  Be motivated and motivate your teammates and most importantly have a good attitude and try your hardest.
